| ABSTRACT:
Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is one option in the armamentarium of treatment options for patients who have open-angle glaucoma. The procedure uses cold laser technology, offers an alternative to more invasive filtering surgery and may be used as a first-line therapy, although opinions about this vary. This course seeks to 1) Make optometrists aware of the historical background of the procedure and 2) Teach optometrists which patients to refer for SLT, explain how the procedure is done and discuss postoperative care. |
