| ABSTRACT:
In addition to treating and educating patients, optometrists need to think about managing their practices so that they use their resources efficiently in a changing business environment. This article explains why optometrists need to be proactive, rather than reactive, as they manage their practices. It discusses how automated equipment makes it possible for optometrists to delegate data gathering to their office staff, so that they can focus on data assessment, patient treatment, and patient education. It covers ways to help staff deal with changes that come with new technology. Lastly, an optometrist presents his experience of introducing the EPIC-2100 (Marco) – an automated vision diagnostic workstation with an integrated refractometer, keratometer and corneal topographer – into his optometric practice. |
