| TITLE:
Corneal Assessment for Contact Lens Wear |
| ABSTRACT:
Proper corneal assessment before and following contact lens fitting can ensure wearing success.
You've fit and dispensed your patient's contact lenses and have successfully reviewed lens care compliance. The patient may consider the fitting process complete, but you know better because follow-up care is critical to ensure the patient's long-term success with contact lens wear.
A careful pre-screening can eliminate inappropriate contact lens candidates. Contemporary contact lens materials, designs, solutions and reasonable wearing schedules have fortunately reduced the incidence of serious contact lens complications. However, you should always keep in mind the possibility of their occurrence, which causes inconvenience to both you and your patients and potentially great discomfort and vision loss to the patient. |
