| TITLE:
Diabetes Overview |
| ABSTRACT:
This course begins with a detailed description regarding the systemic challenges of diabetes. All of the various types of diabetes are presented with comparisons and contrasts for each. With emphasis on the United States, a review of diabetes epidemiology within the past 25 years will be covered. This will shed light on what is expected for our peers in the coming quarter of a century. Diabetic eye disease is then presented to demonstrate to the technician what is being diagnosed in the examination room. This will be very helpful for technicians who expect to take part in the ocular health examination or in documenting findings in the patient's chart. The course finishes with key points on prevention and an easy question and answer test to screen for patients in danger of getting the disease. |
