| ABSTRACT:
This course discusses advances in cataract surgery, including a comprehensive range of related issues, with a view toward optimizing the effectiveness of the optometrist as a co-manager. Topics include: how to perform an accurate visual function assessment; preoperative concerns such as type of defect; the effect of various defects on vision; influencing clinical signs (narrow angles, pseudoexfoliation of the lens capsule, high myopia); the role of biometry; various types of anesthesia and recent advancements in the field; advances in surgical techniques; and intraocular lens design developments. Postoperative treatment and care are also discussed. |
