| ABSTRACT:
Perhaps the most lucrative yet frustrating aspect of the contact lens market is the presbyopic segment. Each year, more and more of our patients reach the age when they can no longer function well at near. We educate them on presbyopia and prescribe bifocals, progressive addition lenses, and readers. We discuss monovision with our contact lens wearers. And if we are brave, we mention multifocal contact lenses. But those of us who do not fit a lot of multifocal contact lenses do not really get too excited about it. There are too many compromises. It takes too long and requires too much effort. Patients don't like their vision with them. In the end, it really isn't worth it. Is it? |
